I found that in the ME inventory is not consistent. So, if most places are out right now... in a couple weeks, everywhere will likely have what you wanted. But then, it may very well sell out very quickly... just because of the inconsistency. I would be concerned about ever finding them out in the smaller towns, but Riyadh and Jeddah should normally be fine. That said... as I mentioned above about brand choice... I would bring the years supply from home as I was always picky about brand.

Anyhow, to the person who said they can be found anywhere, I suspect you might be talking about pads? Sometimes people can get confused between the two. Pads and tampons are two different things. Pads are very easy to get hold of in Saudi. Tampons? Nope.
Not to sound patronising to the original poster, but is it definitely a tampon you need, and not a pad? Just in case you got confused. I know in my time, many men have thought that pads are called tampons (as in, they all have one name). Just thought I'd check! Sorry. |
Yeah, I mean tampons, the ones that go inside the vagina with the string, not the winged diaper deals. |

Dear Nomad.
I don;t know where you have shopped, but i have been to those places in search of them. they are not there. Sorry, not trying to stir up any trouble, just don't want to mislead the OP... |
I'm not misleading anyone. I've seen them on the shelves at the Carrefour at Granada Mall, in the row of shelving across from the facial tissues, along with the other feminine products. Sometimes certain items are hard to keep in stock because of demand and not because the store doesn't carry them. |

Considering this issue further:
I think that the issue being discussed here is fair and needed. It strikes me that this would be an excellent Forum for Ladies issue to exchange information in.
Granted, men and pretty much "cash and carry" but women have different needs and have a right to query others as to their being able to purchase these items worldwide. My better half was always able to find what she needed without publicly asking as has been the case here, but then, she was lucky enough to have resources from her ethnic group members and other ladies on the compounds that we lived in to not have to (Plus, the Internet, for most of our stay, just didn't exist.). Many who visit these boards have neither to get information from.
I propose that some of you who feel strongly enough about this contact the board moderators and request that a forum, specifically aimed at the fairer sex be set up in the "Begin Here" section at the very top of the board as has been done for "Newbies" and those interested in "Technology"? This forum could be for everything from hygiene to outerwear...
It's a fair thing, I think! |

Completely unnecessary I'd say. If you are uncomfortable reading about icky "lady stuff," just don't read the thread when that is the topic. And BTW... it has been discussed numerous times in the past on various ME threads. You are not required to comment on it. We female members of the board are fully able to answer the questions without the male members making marginal jokes to cover up their discomfort.

While that is very Saudi Arabia of you, I think that idea doesn't have merit. Ladies topics are not flooding this board. I'm a man myself and I instigated the discussion. When viewing the forum just don't click the link that says "Riyadh Tampons," as clearly it doesn't pertain to you. No one is making you read the thread.
On a side note: Boots in Sahara mall did have tampons. Enter at gate 4 if anyone is interested. Thanks all, minus the typical misinformers (you know who) |

I see your point, IS, but do we really need to add another discussion forum topic here to deal with women's (or men's) specific issues on daily life in the Kingdom? I will say that people rely too much on this forum for erroneous, non-TEFL info when there are other sources available and with more exposure and detail given on those topics. When I had socio-cultural or general questions about living in KSA, I posted on the numerous expat forums and received quick responses with very useful info. There are also some excellent blogs maintained by expat women who have been living in the Kingdom for years and don't mind responding to questions.
EDYSI, glad you found what you were looking for. |

I think that my post is being viewed by a few pair of jaundiced eyes. I'm not exclusively focused on Saudi, as some others are, and neither is this site. Don't women moving to Saudi have the same needs as women moving to Timbuktu?
I know of Women's Forums on other boards and, by my estimate, they're quite well visited. They seem to be helpful.
"Very Saudi Arabia of" me? If that were the truth, I'd be all about "Woman hold your tongue!" Don't be a Drama Queen!
Is a Woman's Forum segregation or focused? Are women-only trains on the Yamanote Line to segregrate from the men, or to protect from the drunken louts?
Well,...
It really depends on how YOU choose to view it!
P.s.-I'm not the one likening this issue to sports team names! |

I've noticed a continual theme in this forum since joining. It's always the same old Drama King that gets too self involved and tries to take control. *yawns*
Going back on topic, I'm glad you found what you were looking for, EDYSI I had no idea there was even a Boots in Riyadh! Kewl! |

Funny, that certain folk choose to avoid the issue at hand, but, instead, decide to make personal attacks.
It's NOT completely Ms. Terious! |

Of course, they are both women, but moving to different locations...where they would need different info regarding where to find 'their items'. This is the Saudi forum ...so obviously people are looking for specific info about Saudi Arabia, not Timbuktu
As far as segregating topics for 'women only'...totally useless on the internet, we already know you are a prude, so it comes off as a self serving gesture on your part; just to avoid having to read the topic line.... I guess not all men are able to exercise self control....there's little harm that can be done on the internet as opposed to riding a bus or a train...kind of an odd comparrison.
Since this topic has come up....I too inquired at a few local shops...seems the local generic pharmacies do not sell tampons.
