I used to go diving from the beach near Jeddah, but now most all beaches are walled off and have become private property of fat cats.

The best diving i found in the gulf is in Oman. There is a first rate government supported dive center in Muscat that's very economical. Khasab, on the Musamdam peninsula is also a good place.

2b, when you went diving in Jeddah did you have your own gear and fill up the tanks at a dive shop, or rented everything? Did you dive at all in remote parts of Red Sea coast?

You don't have the credentials to get a job in Abu Dhabi. In the UAE, the salaries are higher that what you are applying for in Saudi, but they require related MAs and experience. There are few, if any, entry level jobs for your type of credentials. (I don't know of any, but there might be a few if you manage to find them through contacts)

Oh.

I know of two institutions in Abu Dhabi that will accept my credentials.

Dear JerkyBoy,

"I know of two institutions in Abu Dhabi that will accept my credentials."

And you haven't applied - why?

Regards,
John

I applied for one but did not get shortlisted, though I met the criteria.

The other I will apply for. But I may go there in September.

What?

They don't have names?

This is some sort of private knowledge of only your own?

VS
(So, obviously it is down to one, not two. Laughing If you were referring to HCT, they literally never foreign hire someone without an MA. So, you are likely wasting your time on the other one too... PM me and I'll tell you what your chances are at this mystery employer if I know them.)

Then again I get the impression that working in KSA involves dealing with a large number of assh*les.

So maybe Columbia would be preferable, after all.

Not sure why you think Colombia will be a good match (assuming you mean Colombia - and not one of the American cities named Columbia, don't worry about 90% of non Hispanics make the same mistake).

Money No (can't save here or in Thailand - but slightly better living standard in Thailand - your money will go further)
Diving No (Far more options and better quality in Thailand and probably cheaper)
Women No(ish) (Cheaper but not as pretty in Thailand)

Save the airfare and stick it out there. -Best of luck.
