I have heard that the role of the NOC is diminishing. What caused expats to pull out their hair 10 years (if not 5 years ago) is (almost) a non-issue today (except for those employers or embassies which still prefer to see a NOC).
My friends' contracts I have looke @ this year ask for a NOC. But I think it is only a formality....so the company can cover themselves. When it actually came down to getting a visa, the NOC was never asked for.

letter of no objection is irrelevant if you were never issued a work visa. When I was in Saudi I was never issued a work visa, technically I wasn't even supposed to be there. So, no matter when or how you leave, issuing a letter of no objection would be pointless because if you didn't have a work visa you weren't supposed to be working there in the first place.
As for burning bridges, burn em in Saudi because the majority of English schools are rackets and teachers ( I mean "real" teacher ) get burned. They are going to burn you either way. beat them to the punch. I know I did and walked away with more cash than all the teachers combined at the place I was at. |
