I haven't worked in one, but I have the impression that Qualified Teacher Status (to use the UK terminology) is required for international schools. Perhaps somebody with experience in that area can comment?

Yes, proper teacher qualifications (PGCE or state certification etc), and usually at least a year or two of post-qual experience, are needed for international schools.

Thanks again. I registered with an IS recruiter and am headed to a science job fair. (The research thing holds the most appeal since its what a Ph.D. trains you for.)

I have a must old NYS teaching license from 1999 but of course its a wee expired.
