Frankly, Mid East employers aren't picky about what your degree major is as long as it's relevant to TEFL and you possess the right amount and level of teaching experience. However, a degree completed via distance learning will somewhat limit your job opportunities in the region. I suggest browsing the Mid East forums or doing a search on this site; this topic was recently addressed. |
Nomad, so where would a BA and MA in English Literature stand me? Would it qualify me for decent jobs in the Middle East? (I have 1 year's experience as I type this, but 2 years by the time I will maybe move Gulf-wards) |

I responded to you about this a month ago (http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?p=1042380&highlight=#1042380). Again, an MA in English Lit is iffy; the better Mid East employers may not view it as relevant to TEFL (and it's not). Look at job ads for the region to see what qualifications are required. You may have to beef up your credentials and/or experience if that's your target location. |
