Yeah, have fun driving here. I think Russian drivers are perpetual state of teenageness when it comes to driving - aggressive, fast, risky, rude.
Plus you have to pay hundreds of dollars to rent a garage because there's no parking. And have fun doing the annual 100+ point car check (which usually just means paying someone so you don't have to wait in line for 8 hours just so they can find some fault and make you pay a fine), not to mention the police... |

My boss is talking about buying a car for company use which he wants me to drive to corporate clients. I am not in Moscow but I am still scared! I am not keen on marshrutkas but I think I would rather use them than drive! Where I am there is no metro so options are limited. |

make sure you have an international driver's license, and it needs to be translated into Russian and notarized. Plus your name on the insurance and a written note from the owner of the car (company I guess in your case) that they allow you to drive it.
You'll probably be fine, but your employer might not even know the rules, so insist on it. |

Rules? What rules? I have yet to see any evidence of any rules being followed on the road. |

Thanks for the reply. I seem to have a very unusual boss in that he knows all the rules and sticks to them so from that point of view I should be ok. It is the actual driving bit that scares me! Whenever somebody gives me a lift I am always telling them to turn where it is illegal. If I am on my own I will just turn! Plus Russian traffic lights are still a mystery to me after nearly 3 years! |

Traffic lights are there to be ignored. Just like zebra crossings and pedestrians. |
