When I first came to China I had to decide between two jobs: one at an international school and the other at a middle school in a small town that paid half the salary of the international school. I decided go to take the Oral English position at the middle school just to get my feet wet and check things out. I had a one year leave of absence from my high school to do this.
I would suggest you take a year deal at a public institution in China like a university or middle school that can get you a proper visa and housing. The contract is more of a standard government contract and is more apt to be followed by the schools.
As it turns out my old middle school is looking for a teacher. The apartment is small, but well kept. The town is small, but the people are friendly. I can vouch for the teachers and good students at this place. Send me a p.m. if you are interested. |
