You will first need to change Chinese Yuan to U.S. Dollars. This is discussed on other threads. The simplist way is to have a Chinese "friend" do it for you using their National ID card. Once you have converted your Yuan to Dollars, a major Chinese bank, like Bank of China, will be able transfer your funds to a U.S. checking account for a fee. Others have suggested using different transfer agents, which may have certain advantages, but this is the most direct method. |

You will need the routing number and your account number for your bank in the states. If you're not sure what they are, look at a personal check of yours (or deposit slip). Usually, the routing number is on the lower left of your check and your account number is in the lower center. If you don't have a check or deposit slip, you'll need to contact your bank and somehow convince them you are who you say you are. It may be complicated all the way over here in China.
By the way, I bank through a credit union back home. I send around five or six hundred dollars home every month via EMS (I know - - don't start). My aunt then deposits the money in one account and I can divvy it up online (Debit account, savings account, credit card account). At my ripe old age, I too still have student loan payments and Sallie Mae just conveniently deducts from my debit account every month. My CU takes my credit card payment (almost have THAT paid off, thank you very much) automatically as well. When I want to shop online, like this Christmas season, I can almost always use my debit or credit card (but trying not to use the ol' CC) and have things shipped to . . . wherever: here in China, my aunt's house, gift recipients. I love the magic of internet! |

Normally, $15-$25 for an international wire transfer. You may have to pay more in China--just because it's China. Ask your local bank! |
