Dear spiral87,
As an ex-air-controller myself, I could tell you true tales that would make your schnauzer's hair curl.
But that never stopped me from boarding a plane. It's all inshallah, after all.
Dear Captain_Fil,
Actually it was the thong pictured on the link I provided. I have that from an irrefutable (or, as Ms Plain might put it, an irrefudiable) source.
Regards,
John |

Dear cassava,
Well, I'll give you an "A" for effort, but perhaps now you see what I mean:
" . . . one lesson I learned from my crazy first wife was this: You can't reason with a crazy person."
Not that I have anything against harmless crazy people; some of my best friends fall into that category, and even I do. Heck, in case you haven't noticed, we're ALL crazy in our own individual ways.
Some of us believe in UFOs and/or that aliens have visited Earth/live among us.
Some of us believe in Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, etc.
Some of us believe in ghosts, demons, and satanic possession.
Some of us believe that Elvis is alive and well.
Some of us believe in an old guy with a long, white beard who sits in heaven on a golden throne.
Some of us . . . .

Your observations and comments on the various levels of craziness are worthy of note. I suspect that certain individuals who have been posting on this thread can fit neatly into a few of your categories.
Indeed, the combination of their arrogant pretentiousness, overt apophenia and rampant pseudo-intellectualism all make for a somewhat amusing caricature of the art of rational thinking.
An old proverb comes to mind. " You can drag a jackass to water but you can't make him drink it." Sometimes it's simply not worth the effort to drag the jackass in the first place. |
