Bus conductors in Swaziland have vowed to assault and rape female passengers who wear mini-skirts, sparking outrage among women’s groups in the conservative African kingdom.

The threat followed this week’s arrest of two conductors and a bus driver who were charged with indecently assaulting an 18-year-old high school pupil.

The pupil was attacked at a bus rank in Manzini, Swaziland’s commercial centre, by a group of men who shouted at her for wearing a miniskirt, cut it off and then gang-raped her, witnesses told local media.

Earlier this year, [Swedish feminist Joanna Rytel] wrote an article called "I Will Never Give Birth to a White Man," for a major Swedish daily, Aftonbladet. [Jag tنnker aldrig fِda en vit man, April 11, 2004]

Rytel explained why she hates white men—they are selfish, exploitative, vain, and sex-crazed—and just to make things clear, she added, "no white men, please… I just puke on them, thank you very much."["Dom spyr jag bara pه, tack."]

She wrote that other than the women’s restroom, she can find peace only in the segregated women's prayer room in the mosque in central Stockholm: "At least Muslim men don’t mind that women have their own community in peace and quiet." She added that she might let a white man follow her home, but only because "I can have someone to talk with all night long about my hatred towards white men."

Members of the Swedish National Socialist Front—a [proudly] neo-Nazi group—called the article to the attention of the Stockholm authorities. But they refused to indict Miss Rytel. In a letter dated April 19, prosecutor Gِran Lambertz explained why:

"The purpose behind the law against incitement of ethnic hatred was to ensure legal protection for minority groups of different compositions and followers of different religions. Cases where people express themselves in a critical or derogatory way about men of ethnic Swedish background were not intended to be included in this law. Because of that, the content in this article cannot be considered incitement of ethnic hatred."

So now it’s official: Swedes can go to jail if they say rude things about the foreigners whom they have generously allowed into their country. But foreigners and anyone else may say whatever they like about Swedes.

That'll be because the intent of anti-discrimination laws was to counter the abuse of relationships of power; and in most places in the world (including Sweden and the US) white males are not, on the whole, the group in society at the wrong end of the (economic social or political) power relationship.

Rape has become a sickening way of life in our land

South Africa has the highest rates of rape in the world, according to Interpol, and the highest incidence of HIV. The National Prosecuting Authority tells us that 50 percent of all cases before South African courts are for rape, except in Durban and Mdantsane, where it is 60 percent.

Although the Law Reform Commission estimates there are 1,7 million rapes a year, on average only 54 000 rape survivors lay charges each year. Why? It is because rape survivors are treated so badly by so many.

Every time a rape survivor does not lay a charge, she allows a rapist or rapists - because 75 percent of rape in South Africa is gang rape - .....

Last year the cabinet removed Section 21 from the new Sexual Offences Bill, which would have given post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP, which is medication to prevent HIV) as well as medication to prevent STIs and pregnancy to rape survivors. They left in Section 22, which guarantees medical care for the rapist and undertakes to rehabilitate any alcohol or narcotics addictions he might have.

In South Africa, police tell us, 41 percent of those raped are under the age of 12. In Meadowlands, Soweto, police say 90 percent of rape in that community is against children younger than 12.

A nine-year study by Cape Town's Red Cross Children's Hospital, published in the SA Medical Journal in December 2002, found that the average age of children raped was three....
