Some interesting replies. I have found with Saudi that so much depends on who you work for etc, and a bit of luck too.
Regarding visas could go either way. After having a copy of contract and letter from employer etc I had my employment visa in 4 days through Harley Medical Services. Iqama followed 6 weeks after arrival. The company did this in two weeks for people this year.
Also, Saudi is not the hole a lot of people make it out to be in my opinion. You can have a good social life and it is a safe environment for children if you have kids.
Some home made wine is excellent quality. Whoever paid 350$ for some real stuff must have been seen coming. 200SAR should get you a bottle of something decent.
Shopping in Saudi is great. Sale means exactly that, a sale on pretty much everything.
On the whole I think it is a good place to live.[/code] |
