TheFellow states Aramco's requirements near the top of this page.
To summarise, when I apply in the spring, I will have:
BA (hons) Marketing (studied for in person in the UK).
MA TESOL (studied for online with Universtity of Sunderland, UK)
CELTA 120 hours
7 years EFL teaching experience, incl. 2 years post CELTA with adults (all in Korea).
I'm hoping that the MA might get me a job at somewhere like Aramco, while the BA + CELTA will be enough to get a visa while they're not accepting online degrees (which might be forever!).
If you think I'm being overly optimistic and I haven't much chance then please do say so and I'll have to go back to the drawing board for my next move. |
If you're relying solely on TheFellow's general description of requirements, then, yes, I'd say you're being overly optimistic. If you looked at actual recent job ads for Aramco, you'd see that your qualifications---specifically your online MA (which won't qualify you for an employment visa), unrelated BA, and just two years of post-CELTA experience---wouldn't likely get a second look from recruiters. Moreover, keep in mind that employers that pay the most in KSA target those job seekers with the strongest qualifications (i.e., a relevant MA and/or Delta along with 3 or more years of experience), which typically match what job ads indicate as "preferred" or "desired" qualifications.
Should you still pursue an Aramco position? Sure, you can apply to whatever jobs you're interested in. Just be very realistic about both the employer's and the visa requirements and mindful that others vying for those top opportunities will have beefier education and experience. |

And, in the meantime, if you don't have any offer from Aramco, get some more experience teaching adults post CELTA to improve your credentials.

Ah yes, I see where TheFellow posted them.
I don't think your quals/exp will make the grade. The MA being online and your lack of post-CELTA experience will make it difficult. But, as nomad says, no one can stop you from applying.
I hear Aramco are possibly doing another hiring round in the next few months. No more details at this point though. |
