Nice one, Gordon.

These are all questions that American tourists asked my wife.
What time does the 9am bus leave?
Where can I buy seeds for those totem poles?
Why CAN'T I use an American stamp in Canada?
When she was a flight attendant:
Are you sure we're moving, I can't see the clouds moving underneath us?
While crossing the Atlantic to Europe: why didn't the pilot point out more landmarks along the way? |

Now I understand why Dubya was elected AND re-elected!
A park ranger told one of my pals that he once saw a visitor smearing honey on her child's face. When he asked her why she was doing it, mom said she wanted to take a picture of a bear licking the kid's face. The ranger managed to convince her that it wasn't a good idea. |

It's not just Americans. While traveling in England, a woman was delighted to hear that I am Canadian because she had some questions. She wanted to know why cars only drive on the "wrong" side of the road in Hollywood movies. She was shocked to hear that many countries drive on the opposite side from those in England. She also asked whether we had to pay a toll to cross the bridge connecting Canada and the US!
An American standing near me at Loch Ness asked when the monster comes out for the daily viewing. |

On occasion I've managed to convince some English folk that the haggis is a wild animal that lives in the mountains. |

Yeah, there are morons in every country.
It's just so much more fun to talk about the ones from America. |

There does seem to be more of them in the USA. Could it be the result of all those atmospheric A-bomb tests in the 1950s? Is it payback time for all the acid dropped in the 60s? |

Yes, it's a love-hate relationship thingy we've got going btw Canada and the US. Imagine it like this: Canada as a fourteen year-old girl caught up in a desparate crush on the bold, handsome nextdoor neighbour. Something like the following:
Canada: I hate you, hate you, hate you (fit of desparation, tears, etc).
America: (ignores Canada)
Canada: I hate you, I hate you, I hate you (stares longingly at America's broad profile, more tears).
America: (goes back to playing with his little military men)
Canada: I hate you, I hate you, I hate you! (plaintiffly) Why don't you notice me....
Some American politician recently made news by referring to Canada as the 'retarded cousin'. We have a popular, and hilarious, TV program that is mostly dedicated to showing how much Americans don't know about us (Congratulations, Canada, on finally getting FM radio - Rick Mercer). Canada - where the inferiority complex is a part of our national identity. |

Actually, it was "political commentator" Tucker Carlson. It's kind of hard to take seriously someone who still wears a bow tie. |

Getting back to the original point...
"Why did the queen build Windsor Castle so close to Heathrow Airport?" -- Asked by an American tourist in England.
This, and other gems can be found on the following site: http://rinkworks.com/said/tourism.shtml |

Is that show still on the air? I haven't see This Hour... in years. I can just imagine how Mercer is cutting up Harper. |
