Dear Hod,
Now, now - don't get a big head.

That's not really me.
Saying that, I applied for a new passport once. The UK Post Office offers an excellent checking service for a small fee to make sure you've made no mistakes. This speeds things up and means you only miss half your holiday waiting for the new passport to arrive.
Anyway, I'd apparently sat much too close to the camera, and the clerk said
"Your head is too big."
It was said in an overly loud manner. People in the queue behind may have heard, and I'm sure I heard one hoodlum snigger.
Adopting the philosophy of that Indian actress (forgot her name again), I consulted my lawyers immediately. It's my right to have a big head that doesn't fit on passport photos. Why should I be denied international travel due to my massive head? What I really needed was some publicity, but I just got a new photo instead. |

Dear Hod,
At the Post Office, you should've demanded to see the Head Man.

Go on. Admit it. You can't remember her name either. |
Frankly, I never ever heard of her, but for about the tenth time, I don't know why her fame, or her lack of fame, matters. Her motive is not only unknowable, it does not matter. But just for the sake of argument, let's assume her motive is suspect. Still, what she says is true - it's unassailable - I think even you would agree to that. The only argument you could possibly make, which you already have, is that the world has more important problems to worry about. My point is, if it's such a trifling matter, why does he even need to say stuff like that at all, if he knows it's going to offend people. I could just as well accuse him of a "just for publicity" stunt.
As for the N-word clip you posted, I have to admit I listened to it 4 times and could not hear him say that word. But then again, why is he mumbling through that part of the rhyme? And if he did not say that, why did he apologize?
http://madnewsuk.com/2014/05/02/uk-news-tv-star-jeremy-clarkson-begs-forgiveness-after-using-the-n-word/
"In a video statement posted online on Thursday, he said that he had tried to obscure the word when reciting the “eeny, meeny, miny, moe” nursery rhyme to chose between two cars, but that his efforts to do so “weren’t quite good enough”."
Look Hod, I am not trying to come off as "Holier than thou". I am far from it. Also, I am not trying to say you are a bad guy. I just can not understand why you put the blame on the receiving side of the slurs instead of the guy who spewed them-not once, but several times. |

It's not about me or you. It's about the topic.
The slope joke was wrong. I'm not sure how to deal with this. People in the UK can write to their MP. Elsewhere, people could vote with their remotes and not watch Top Gear. If enough people switched off, there would be no Top Gear or Clarkson.
This Indian actress (nearly remembered her name but not quite) doth protest too much. She also protested about Clarkson's N-word incident, of which I will make three points:
1. It's an old nursery rhyme. Those are the words. There's another example from WW2 with an RAF officer's dog. Wait till (unknown actress) hears about this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/*beep*%28dog%29
2. It's mumbled. If you extracted the one, albeit offensive, word and played it in isolation, it would be incoherent.
3. The best comes last. The clip wasn't even aired. It was an outtake.
This actress is making herself a laughing stock. The worst that could happen is the BBC fire Clarkson, and he would gain greater publicity on another channel, and then she would really get publicity as the butt of many many Clarkson jokes.
For the record then:
a) I think Clarkson is out of order with the slope remark.
b) I think the Indian actress should put a sock in it or try another technique to stop Clarkson which doesn't involve an obvious attempt to boost a flagging aka non-existent career. |

Those are not the words of the nursery rhyme. Those words were added later by racists. Hey, I live in the deep south, I know about racism. The original nursery rhyme words go like this:
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe,
Catch a tiger by the toe.
If he hollers, let him go,
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe.

I think I am getting the picture now. It's obvious from your latest avatar that you are a huge fan of Jeremy Clarkson(perhaps you have posters of him on the walls of your bedroom in your mother's house), and so I think you are experiencing cognitive dissonance. On one hand, you are a good guy, and you disapprove of racism and racial slurs. On the other hand, Jeremy Clarkson is your hero, who can do no wrong. These two contradictory beliefs are causing you much mental stress. Thus, something has to give. You must square this in your mind somehow. You have decided that you do not want to let go of your hero worship of Jeremy Clarkson, and so in your mind the fault can not lie with him - it must lie elsewhere, yes, it must lie with the wicked, publicity-seeking, unknown actress. How dare she speak up against him, who after all is a Patron for the UK charity Help for Heroes. |

Yes, if hoodlums, and sniggering ones at that, can have passports, why can't you?
God makes no mistakes. You're on the right track, baby! You were born that way! Or perhaps your head grew like a pumpkin later. I'm not judging! You are what you are.
Incidentally, I moved into an apartment of an English teacher who did a runner. He left some of his clothes, none of which fit me because they were two sizes too large. I had to throw everything away. However, I threw away his hats because they were all so small that I couldn't get them on my head! |

JoeKing, you had your turn. Now it's mine.
What is with your quote above?
If you google Help for Heroes, what they're doing is pretty damn worthwhile. In whichever land or for whatever reason, these youngsters now have to cope with missing limbs, missing eyes and, in just about every case, mental trauma the likes of you and I won't even imagine.
Clarkson might be a pillock, but he does some good by raising the profile of this charity. This actress is only in raising the profile of herself, and if you can't see that and choose to demean Help for Heroes in coming to her defence, then you really should get an education. |

Hod, you were the one who brought Hope For Heroes into it, apparently to justify Clarkson's behaviour. How does that work exactly? If someone supports HfH (or is it any charity that you support?), they are entitled to a free pass to be a racist bigot? I wonder how HfH would feel about their name being used like that. |
