The receptionist would probably be making more money then you.

I wonder do they have any foreign EFL teachers, err I mean suckers working there.

Haha!...hence me eating my weight in the aforementioned free biscuits and getting more than my fill of the old caffeinated swill to make up for it.

No, no, I wouldn't be working at such a place so the point is moot.

Warm regards,

I've heard of an LL offering 60k + housing. Certainly an improvement.

I was earning 3 times more money in Shanghai than I am here in Moscow.
I miss Shanghai. I've just heard from my friends still there that the pollution has become horrendous and they regularly have to wear face masks now. It was never that bad when I lived there.
I have to admit that this is probably one of the main reasons I haven't moved back there.

I worked in Shanghai four years ago and not bothered by pollution then. Strange that it would increase that much so quickly if what they're saying is accurate. I spent a year in Urumqi before that, and the daily winter forecast was often "smoke." Even there I never went so far as to wear a face mask.

I would have been there roughly the same time as you and I agree that the smog wasn't so bad then.
But most of my friends who stayed left last year, citing a huge rise in pollution as the main cause of their leaving.

Perhaps it's gotten better now. The last of my SH contacts left mid 2014, so I can't really say what it's like now.

I'll post a feeler in the China forum about it. I've been considering a return to Shanghai this year.
