Syntaxter: Crime writer Ethan Squawke moves into a creepy house to investigate the murders that were committed there, but becomes sidetracked by what to him appear to be grammatically anomalous sentences in various books left by the previous occupants, all the while stalked by an increasingly menacing pagan deity called Mr Chomksgie.

Now, if you can just come up with a couple dozen scenarios where the solution to the mystery hinges on Detective Squawke's ability to extrapolate evidence from said grammar anomalies, you'll have an Emmy-winning prime time television show.

And there needs to be a recreational meth lab in the basement, and a rival ELT publishing firm shooting the place up occasionally.

Was that just a crap joke, or a poor attempt at an insult, Sasha?

Too much fluff on the brain there, my furry friend. If you can parody the name Chomsky, why can't I work with present perfect tense?

You can do what you like Sasha, but there's clearly a difference between having some fun with Chomsky's name (he's hardly likely to be reading let alone replying on these forums), and conceivably trying your "best" to insult me (or was your reply aimed at somebody else, or nobody in particular, even though it comes hot on the heels of mine? Rolling Eyes). Either way, answered or unanswered, your post was probably going to kill the mood if not the thread. I wonder if other people will call you out on your antics (but I wasn't holding my breath, hence my above reply).

There was nothing aimed at you. Not in the slightest. And Johnslat and I were happily enjoying the carefree mood prior to your contributions, and possibly will afterwards also. If you keep your fur on.

Sorry, but I'm disinclined to believe your protestations of innocence, Sasha (and this wouldn't be the first time you've tried to get a rise out me. Only the other day you were objecting to my use of the word 'instructions' in a context quite different to the one we had originally been "exchanging ideas" in). As for your carefee banter with Johnslat, that was a whole page and quite a number of intervening posts ago, so you weren't exactly replying still to him, were you?

Anyway, perhaps think more carefully about how your posts could possibly be construed next time would be my advice. That, or give people something funnier to play with (might be tough for a one-trick pony like you, I know, but please try harder!). Oh, look, and I even included a few brackets for you to go on about! How kind of me, eh?
