It is a con.

Google the name, here is a clue, it isn't even a Spanish name.

Also, the phone number regional code is for Navarre, not Madrid. How weird. Crying or Very sad

I did as you suggested and googled Mr Agri Danels name and quickly found it was indeed Basque, Agri meaning light and Danel being the Basque form of Daniel.
Source:
http://www.behindthename.com/names/usage/basque

On to the phone numbers. The area code for Navarre (English /nəˈvɑr/; Spanish: Navarra; Basque: Nafarroa) is +34 938. I do not see this code in any of the phone numbers in the previous post. Am I missing some thing here?
Source:
http://countrycode.org/spain

I did find the code for Madrid +34 91,also not in any of the phone numbers.....
On closer inspection I found the code 902 to be quote:
"Used by companies in order to reduce the cost for the caller. The rate is set between the price of a local and national call and is the same rate for all callers regardless of location."
Source:
http://moneysaverspain.com/cheap-phone-calls-spain/

To me this seems in keeping with the idea of enquiries to the program ( being mainly from outside Spain I would presume) not being charged at the full international rate. Does it scream Scam to you?

I am grateful for the fact that the posts here have made me look more closely at the offer I have. What else can I do?

I have lived in Spain and am going back - there is no reason for me to poopoo you plans without reason.

That programme pays 700 Euros a month, and there is no accommodation included.

What I have done, is looked up the address on Pagina Amarillas, Espana and here is what I have got.

http://www.paginasamarillas.es/fichas/ig/direccion-general-de-deportes-comunidad-de-madrid_015716954_000000051.html

In this game, if something is too good to be true, it probably is.

Now, you have two phone numbers (and two addresses, the real one is on Plaza Independencia and not paseo de prado), one is to a number that you have and one is to a number in the Paginas Amarillas, they are both different - so give them a ring and let us know.

NB: There are Spanish government offices on Paseo de Prado but not the office you are looking for - here are all the offices and departments on Paseo de Prado - none matching your phone numbers in your post, fill your boots.

(Before you do, don't try '202 888-0159' because it doesn't exist).

I note that the ad is off the eslcafe website.

I got an email with a series of dates supposedly for training beforehand. I'm going to choose one of them and see what happens.

Has anyone written to the site that claims it pays only 700 euro per MONTH and ask if it is legit, passing along a copy of the emails?

I'm starting to get nervous - no job would go from 700-1000 euro per month to 2800+ in such a short time.

Not even sure if I should send the info page on my passport - but since it expires in 2 years, I wonder...

Here's what I wrote them this morning:

Hello,
Before I send anything else on this application, I would like some information.

1) Is there any cost for the orientation besides the teacher's flight there?
2) Where is the orientation?
3) Are you charging visa fees?
4) Why does another site say this program pays 700 Euro monthly as opposed to your emails that say 700 euro weekly?
5) Do you interview potential teachers?
6) May I have Mr. Argi Danel's email address and/or a direct phone number?

Thank you and I look forward to your responses.

We shall see what we shall see...

I think it is fair to say that a lot of posters on here know the lie of the land regarding salary. Somebody came up with a pearler the other week and it went something like this.

'If the money is crap, it is legit' It tends to be a good rule of thumb.

Nobody I know in Spain is earning 2800 Euros a month unless they are in Madrid/Barcelona and working like a dog. Even then, that is top top line.

12 hours a week working in a public school? Those jobs exist, but for a lot less money.

All you have to do, just to satisfy your own curiosity - is take this application to the end, but they are going to ask you for money in regards this 'training week' or the visa - then bail out, the only thing you have dashed are your hopes.

Ahhhh where to begin my happy friend?

I too have lived in Spain,in fact I have property there. I have been “in the game” for a good number of years and have taught all over this wonderful world.

Happy you have a knack of making bold wildly inaccurate statements, for example:
Google the name, here is a clue, it isn't even a Spanish name. Really
Also, the phone number regional code is for Navarre, not Madrid. Where did that come from?
That programme pays 700 Euros a month, and there is no accommodation included...sigh

In order to have the code 901,902 or indeed 905 it must be linked to another phone number so two numbers, no surprise there. I do not even pretend to understand the vagaries of Spanish bureaucracy or exactly what department is linked to what other department or even where. Do you? Having experienced it I doubt that the people working in the midst of it truly understand it! The program comes under the Ministry for Culture Education and Sport so there is also no surprise in the address you gave out previously either. The curious other telephone number the +1202 beats me. Maybe I will talk with my Spanish lawyer about that or not!

Having read my contract letter and had it signed by Mr Danel (assor de educion or master con artist ?) including....

3.1.        Benefits:

•       A stipend of €700 a week (For teachers assigned to Madrid)

•       A shared apartment. ( For teachers assigned to Madrid)
•       Visa assistance.
•       Medical insurance.

•       An orientation course at the beginning of the school year.
•        Paid vacation

•       An official certificate upon completion issued by the Comunidad Autónoma (region).

And with statement:

This Agreement is made final and firm unless any material modification or amendment to this Agreement is executed with the full knowledge and consent of the undersigned (That's both of us by the way) and incorporated into this Agreement.

I think I may just give it a go and see what happens, after all no money has changed hands so exactly what is the scam? Then again please don't answer that question. Very Happy

You'll know it is a con then

It is a basque name - don't make that confusion if you go to any Dockers bar in Bilbao.

Really

It isn't Spanish

From my reading of the number - it is a national dialling code and the code for navarre and the last three digits -

That is correct.

That is why these scammers keep on doing it, because there is a sucka born every minute who will believe their shit.

Will you come back on here when it has been proven as a scam?

Now if you are right and you get this job, then I will apologise on here and publicly say I was wrong and you were right.

First question - is a 'stipend' going to be 700 euros a week?

Rolling Eyes

Why are we doing all your research?

They are not scamming to get you on the programme - some Nigerian, probably living in Spain, is about to scam you for visa/flight/accommodation fees!

This isn't the first time it has happened you know.

There is no 12 hour a week teaching job, paying 2800 euros a month! Laughing Think about it for five seconds!

I have an EU passport..they know this...no visa required
Flights...I will be in Spain for the summer anyway.
Accommodation...I have a house there already.

Exactly how are they going to make money?
