Yeah.

If 'high maintenance' means respecting people's rights to life then I'm high maintenance!

Wasn't referring to you. Apologies for any confusion. Haven't had my full daily ration yet, hic!

Nomad_soul, not everyone has such a POSITIVE experience and impression either. It works both ways, not just yours. Just accept that people CAN AND WILL have negative views of anything in life.

Not to mention my negativity doesn't stem from my job itself, but colleagues and people in KSA. So please just start accepting the fact people will be negative and stop putting down those who don't share the same outlook on life as you.

Well, that goes both ways. I say that as a single woman who managed Saudi Arabia just fine without creating major hiccups for myself. I've also worked in two countries in the Middle East during civil unrest and full-out fighting --- one job included danger pay. There were plenty of negatives, but we focused on the positives. Both situations make your Saudi experience quite trivial.

Your work situation was not the norm for the thousands of other expats teaching in KSA. You had the ability to say no to essentially taking on two jobs located far apart from each other (with a grueling, 5-hour daily commute). That would make anyone bitter. You also had the option to give a 30-day notice to terminate your employment since you were miserable and that KSA wasn't a good fit for you. Yet you stayed in a lousy situation that you chose. You buy it, you own it. No job is worth that level of escalating dissatisfaction whether abroad or on home soil.

Anyway, you're done with KSA --- consider it a lesson learned and move on. I hope Russia or wherever you end up will work out better for your personality and mindset.

It wasn't my intent to hijack your thread. I was only responding to GotoRussia, who had mentioned KSA as a possibility. He/she can decide if it's personally doable.

Khalas.

Oh the irony. Someone who ONLY posts negative stuff about China, but throws a hissy when someone doesn't like Saudi. I'm still interested if nomad_soul has even worked in China or merely bases her prejudices from daves_esl? Ignore her Gamajorba. It's difficult to reason with some people...

Strange that people who don't like Saudi must be intolerant or it's their fault... but people who don't like China are just 'right'.

Very interesting. A person with an MA and ZERO critical thinking...

I don't know the name of the visa itself but it's for 3 months first then converted to a full work visa when in Russia. Or something along those lines. Seems pretty standard for most places.

Converted to a single year? Or for three, like you were hoping for?
