Physical location seems to be in Dammam................http://www.americanacademysa.com/contact--american-academy.html

Well, that's something anyway. Now if some enterprising ESLer living in the Eastern Province would "physically" check on them by visiting them (or at least phoning them), a lot of the "misgivings" could be removed. He (the enterprising ESLer) could actually just show up on their premises and pretend he's "lost" or something.....he doesn't actually have to declare that he's an ESLer come to check out the premises......

I wonder why they (and other "recruiters"....and not only in KSA) seldom give out this kind of information on their "adverts". They'd be a lot more successful in actually recruiting people if job seekers felt they had a location/phone number to contact rather than just any ol' email.

Yes, but be careful. Look at the actual wording of the salary section which says:

"Monthly Salary: 13,000 - 15,000 SAR (INCLUDING VALUE OF ALL BENEFITS)"

What does THAT mean? the "VALUE OF ALL BENEFITS"????? Arar, here I come.

I personally would take it to mean that's all you get, that 13.5-15k is your total compensation, plus the flights and housing that are mentioned. If that sounds ok, then apply and confirm when you interview. Also, I would only expect Arar to be available. Anything near Bahrain is probably just bait.

Not just a question of Arar (pop. 145000)

The male campus is Rafhaa 285 km from Arar and pop 85000.

Just contacted an ex-teacher - told me all Al Khaleej teachers in Arar and Rafhaa were on Iqama. I assume if you had to be on a business visa (applies to me) they would have to base you in Jubail/Dammam for the 3-monthly trip to Bahrain. In the north, going into Iraq or Jordan would not really be practicable.

Arar is remote and right next to Iraqi border, which is hermetically sealed. 9 hours by road from Dammam. There are better places to go !

But apparently there are some rather 'brave' dudes on this forum, ready to move to the moon for a few grand.

What the Puck is an American native speaker anyways? Do I have to say "I'm from Merika", to be an american native speaker of English. Why not just ask for United States of America passport holders who are native speakers of English of the American accent?

end of transmission

Strange. I had no problem understanding the phrase (American native speaker). The way it's written, there's no doubt it means the employer is looking for speakers of Chippewa (Ojibwe), Navajo (Na-Dene), Shoshone, Cree, Apache, Cherokee, Winnebago, Chumash, Cheyenne, Dakota or one of the countless other American native languages still spoken in the United States. (They didn't speciify, so I guess any such language will do).

Or one of the countless other native American languages spoken in the Americas, come to that.
