Zaneth,

That sounds great! I bet if you got a big glass, like the huge translucent colored ones I have at home, and filled it with seltzer water (what is that by the way? like soda water?) and about 5 or 10 raisins, you'd get some bizarre lava lamp effect as they would all rise and fall at different speeds.

Groovy!! Cool

What's a smurf gillotine?

L.

lozwich, I'm really starting to enjoy your posts.

Yeah, soda water. something clear and bubbly.

Know what a smurf is? There's a guy on the Russia forum who's avatar is a smurf. Communist smurf. Last I saw it his was Papa smurf. When I was a kid they were very popular little cartoon characters and there were little hard rubber painted figurines of them with happy smiling faces. There were zillions of the little buggers doing all sorts of things. Some people collected them. If you had a hobby and your friends knew about it chances are you'd been given a smurf who shared your hobby.

so just imagine guillotining happy smiling little cartoon characters.

Aw shucks, thanks zaneth! Yours aint too bad neither you know! Laughing

When I was a (rather revolting) child, at those sugar laden kids parties we all used to have, me and my chums would mix all the leftover soft drink and make whacky colors! Imagine filling an aquarium with bizarre colored fizzy drink and using prunes instead of raisins!!!!

Yes, I remember Smurfs. I think I had a collection of them, and (ahem) even bought the record with my pocket money... Embarassed

I wonder if smurf heads would float in the same way as raisins???? Shocked

Now there's an idea....

smiling smurf heads endlessly rising and sinking in a column of bubbly liquid. I'm going to have nightmares now.

Prunes don't work. They make a sort of half-hearted weak attempt to raise themselves off the bottom, but then think better of it.

It's all about the surface area, man. Square cube law and all that good stuff. Some raisins aren't motivated enough either.

Well then, for goodness sake - motivate them. That's your job, as a teacher.
