It is always better to exchange "exotic currencies" like the Saudi Riyal in the country of origin. They teach that in "Foreign Travel 101" don't they ? |

Doubt they'll even take them in Thailand, let alone the USA! |

Deffo, I always changed omani rials in Oman. I had a 100 UAE dirham note in HK, i did not think the indian moneychanger there would change it over to HKD, but he did. But definitely better to change in country of origin, can be a right ballache otherwise! |

Myanmar kyat are basically monopoly money after you come to Vietnam. When the almighty dong is taken more seriously than your currency, you know you have a problem. |

I can just imagine many thrifty FT's or travellers, frantically spending their last kyat on big bottles of beer and food before leaving said country  |
