Hey blackguy in asia,
Why not teach acceptance, tolerance and understanding instead of racism? By teaching racism you are perpetuating it. Isn't it time "we all just got along" to quote an infamous black american. While I'm at it, I thought black was out and African American or African Canadian is the PC term now. Let's get away from color barriers and start to think in human race terms. |

Ludwig and B-N-A should be holding hands and singing as they have so much in common. Ludwig is the selfappointed gate keeper to Hong Kong. By barring would be English teachers he gives little affirmation to others thinking he therefore is protecting his own. Ludwing, this is a world of give and take. You must give affirmation to get affirmation!
B-N-A is establishing his foothold in Hong Kong by play the race card. How about showing some respect for women first? Your just here to get some mainland tail. Bill Cosby would put you over his lap and spank your behind! |

OK BNC, I take back what I said about your disespect for girls, maybe you'll grow out of it. I think your just juvenile in a nice way. Have you read any James Balwin, or understand the philosphy of Bill Cosby? Do you know the difference between Snoop Dogg and Sidney Poitier? Being black doesn't make you an expert on race and more than being white makes you a english teacher even if that is a sterotype in China. If you can show Sidney Poitiers film "To Sir With Love" and have class discussions with it, that would be instructional. |

'Blackguy most certainly not in Asia' is what you may call a 'balanced character'. That is, he has a chip on both shoulders. |

Sorry if I offended you BNA but it seems that every chance you get you mention color. By teaching about racism you are giving people the option of being a racist when our children need to know that tolerance is what is expected of them. We can not continue to live in the past and blame our ancestors for the problems of today. I want to relate to you a situation that happened to me. I was in a bar on day having a quiet beer when an African American sat beside me. We started chatting about nothing really when all of a sudden he played the race card. He stated that my people were responsible for the plight of the black person in society today. Now, I took offense to this because my people didn't move to America until 1911 and faced the same prejudice and oppression as the blacks and I told him this. He still insisted that my people were to blame. It is just this backward thinking that is keeping African Americans or Canadians from moving onward and upward. People of African decent are not alone when it comes to prejudice etc. Prejudice is and has been used as a tool to keep certain groups of people in check. Good luck in your job hunt and remember, Mainland China can be a great place to work or it can be hell. Choose carefully. |

What is offensive? What you say is good and I love your points. You seem like a mature person. Sorry to hear about your bar friend blaming you for all his problems, but don't think all black people blame you for everything. This post is not about that topic.

Exactly. I am, but I'll grow out of it. I just love dating alot and talking about girls. Immature, but that's just me.

That's great. I agree, but why bring that up? Who is blaming anyone here?

This 'race card' thing is as old as the OJ Simpson trials. What race card are you talking about? Because I am of African ancestry, I have a 'card' that I can use against anybody? What about Asians and Natives peoples? Do they have a card too?
The post was about stereotypes, any stereotypes are bad.
You guys in Hk are really too much! Where does all this stuff ( to use a neutral word) come up? Maybe watching too much Ricki Lake?

You know, Rice Daddy, I have black friends in Japan and they say that the only trouble I'll have is from insecure Western expats ...... |
... of which, you are a prime example: being both "western", and "insecure" about the colour of your skin. If you weren't so insecure then you would not continue to state, in every sentence henceforth, the colour of your skin. Be black, be proud; but don't continue to cram it down people's throats when it isn't even being challenged. |

I'm cautions of this guy already and I'm sure he's gonna have a great time in Asia pushing his "Blackness" and going after the local tail at the same time.
He's Sure to fall into favour with the locals within the region!
LOL!!!
