Crucial to the possiblility of improvement is how much leeway GHQ has given to the HCT to implement reform. Any info on this front? |
It appears that those details have not yet been worked out; there is, as yet, no contract between GHQ and CERT, despite CERT's self-assured claim that it is "taking over".
CERT says that there will be no changes made for the first year of their tenure, but that their long-term aim is to make the MLI "the best military language school in the region", with HCT-issued academic credit, UAE accreditation, ans international accreditation. They're talking about adding languages to the curriculum, yadda yadda yadda...
But, come on! These people don't know what's going to happen any more than I do. The farmer doesn't tell the plow horse what he's thinking about.
Obviously, the less of a hold the military exerts, the more freedom CERT will have; but that raises the question of whether the military is withdrawing *willingly* or reluctantly.

If HCT is going to turn things around and make MLI the best military school in the region, then those responsible for the continued decline after AMIDEAST left, should also go! |

The military have walked out the door with some of the goodies, not to mention building a wall cutting off MLI from the book store and the room with all the photocopy gear and paper - did I hear right?!! HCT/CERT would be crazy to sign a contract today. HCT doesn't have the money to set MLI to rights without the appropriate admin staff (military whether you like it or not) and the necessary gear. |

In the Bay of Naples there's a jellyfish (think MLI) that ingests a certain snail (think KS) The snail has a hard shell and the jellyfish can't digest it. So the snail fastens itself to the inside of the jellyfish and slowly begins to eat away at it. By the time it is fully grown, it has consumed the entire jellyfish - which happily granted it entree!
Thus the smarmy KS, clutching his cock-eyed management theories around him like a shroud, slowly eats his way to the top of the MLI/HCT/CERT heirarchy! Watch the power play as it unfolds... |

What an amusing bedtime story. And even if it's true, where's the problem? At least his claims of having management experience will stand up. |

PS And by the way did you really think any of our esteemed coordinators would want to go back teaching? Allah forbid! |

Are you kiddin me? None of those uncoordinates can teach a whit - that is, with the exception of the much maligned C. When it comes to mastery of the EFL arts, he's the real deal. C can flat lay some pedagogy on ya. The chap is absolutely messianic in the classroom. Unfortunately, he seems to be a living example of the Peter Principle via his newly assumed managerial role... |
