It's pretty simple. If you want to live in a world where huggie bears fly and everyone agrees with you and is a bright positive light the illuminates the mountains on every second Tuesday, so beit.
People have postive and negative things to say. Negative comments can spur a debate and also provide information. It's pretty simple...if you don't want to read anything negative, you're going to have to stop reading. People are going to be both positive and negative, helpful and a pain. |

I agree Canuck et al.
But I think sometimes people have a problem with the way advice is given. If I had a CELTA and asked about teaching in universities in Japan, I wouldn't blame anyone who said there was no way it would happen. But if the info was given in a 'Don't be stupid' tone, I might be annoyed. I remember one thread ages ago by an 18 year old -- no quals, no experience -- who wanted to come to Japan, and he had no real idea of what to do here. The negativity he got really shocked me. Yes, the answers he got were going to be negative, but they didn't have to be rude.
I am happy to get advice on these boards that differs from what I was expecting, and I am happy to debate with people if we disagree, but what I thought the OP meant by negativity was the way people do this. There is no need to be rude or overbearing as a few people are here.
