Yes, great news for us living and working overseas. My once lofty income has been reduced to near nothing since becoming a fulltime mom, but I still filed. With the help of a great tax accountant I even got refunds over two tax years as a "reward" for having a baby! So it is worth filing sometimes even if you don't have a high income. |

You don't even need a great tax accountant to get those wonderful child credits. All you need is the current Turbotax program which you can also download from their website, I believe. Just answer the questions and it does it all for you. Not having children, I wasn't aware of these credits, but I used the tax program to do an overseas friend's taxes. He was thrilled to learn that even not having paid taxes for years, he was getting a nice check for - what was it - I think $600. I was shocked that even those that use the foreign tax exclusion get the credit. |

Wow, turbotax sounds pretty good. I checked out their website. I have been out of the States for 20 year+ so I am a bit out of the loop. I really did need an accountant this time for many, many reasons I don't want to go into here. I might try out turbotax for next time though. Thanks. |
