| Denise, thank you for your kind words, they are much appreciated. I spoke to another friend who was there when it all happened and who saw the dead bodies floating by, the destruction and heard the screams. I have never heard a voice so lifeless, so without a soul. He said he will never forget the noise, the roar of the water. I fear that he and many thousands more will never get over what they saw even with professional help. The local population will, of course, never receive any counsellling or psychological help and will suffer even more. And to top off a thoroughly miserable Christmas week a fire in my (now) home city of buenos aires killed 170. |

I saw your post on another thread and went to the Doctors Without Borders website. Thanks for listing them. I chose to give to them because it looks like a lot of the funds that they raise actually help people in need--little overhead.

Yes, this is true. When Mr. Twisting and I were going down the list of orgs to give to, we noticed that quite a large % of funds raised by Doctors Without Borders go to the people, very little overhead, so we chose to give to them. Plus, I worked with them in Central America--not that I'm a doctor--I worked in a different capacity, but saw how they operated, and I was impressed. |
