I'm with an earlier poster. Call it culture shock/loneliness.

I've had culture shock/loneliness kick the cr@p out of me a few times, but I have good friends here and back home and in the end, you just ride it through. But seriously, as others have said, the key is to do something, something good that makes you tick, that floats your boat and isn't just about work.

I'm joining this discussion a bit late, and it seems that most of what I might have wanted to say has been said, often quite eloquently. At this point I'd just like to add my voice to the others that are wishing you well and hoping you'll get through this.

I know Japan and what it is like going through culture shock. Maybe nawlinsgurl should look into other companies! Nothing hurt by trying. I already did research. In Japan you only have to give three weeks notice.
