I wish this was all good news, but tonight we had a sonogram done because of a detected heart murmur and they found 6 small holes in his heart. There are decent chances that they will repair themselves, but they also may not. Noah looks very healthy, but his little heart is pumping oxygenated blood into the wrong ventricle. We're trusting in God that everything will work out, but of course this a shock. Noah is in God's hands.
I'm not really sure why I'm posting this here except that I'm getting quite a few congratulatory emails (thank you) and I thought I'd share all of the information.

Oh Gordon, I was so happy for you when I was reading through the post, but I'm so sorry to hear about the change of events Sad I truly hope everything will be ok!! We are all thinking of you, even if you don't know some (or many) of us well! (Including me). This was going to be a post of congratulations, and it still is of course (big hurrah for you Smile!!), but now it is also to wish you and your family strength to deal with the mixed feelings I'm sure you're dealing with at the moment. Best of luck with everything. Let us know how it goes.

Gordon,

Believe it or not, but... even though I've never met you, your post is just about enough to bring me to tears tonight. (Other factors going on, then coming home and reading your bad news.) I sincerely hope that everything turns out OK.

Thanks for taking the time to pass on the news, Gordon. Although you'll never know most of us out here in cyberland, know that you've got lots of people around the world sending lots of good karma to you and yours, especially the little guy. Give us updates when you can. We'll be thinking of you, for what it's worth -- I only wish we could help.

Gordon and Family:

Hello! Like Joannda, I came on to wish you and your entire family congrats and all the best. Then, I read your sudden change of news concerning Noah. That's a tough one. He seems healthy and looks strong but...(heavy sigh), so I hear ya, that so much is still in the air (or rather the hands of the doctors, right?) I am so wrapped up in our little one (who has 102.5 fever right now) and can't imagine the anxiety you guys are feeling.

I wanted to write and tell you that our thoughts and prayers go out to little Noah, the doctors and you guys. A little over a week ago, you walked me through a lot of questions that I had concerning our child. I appreciate your dedication and shared knowledge.

Take care-
drdo

Hello Gordon
I was so sorry to hear your news. My daughter spent more than 6 months in the hospital in Japan in the first 3 years of her life, so I do know how terrible it feels when your child is not well. I know you are not in Tokyo, but I would like to recommend the National Pediatric Hospital in Setagaya, Tokyo. It is THE BEST hospital (with an emergency department) for kids in Tokyo. Many of the doctors speak excellent English and had training in the US.

The National Center for Child Health and Development in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Tel: 03-3416-0181, http://www.ncchd.go.jp/
near Seijo Gakuenmae Station on the Odakyu Line.
The name of this hospital in Japanese is: "Kokoritsu Seiiku Iryou Center"

Best wishes to you and your family
Sherri

Mindless Fudge,

Why do you have to take Gordon's problem and turn it into a political statement? It is entirely possible to feel compassion for his child AND for other children in the world.

I agree Denise. This is a time to support another "friend" and his family during a truly trying time in their lives---it's not the time to challenage him or his faith.

Mindlessfudge: Please, start a new thread if you want to bring up your own issues! Thanks.

Gordon, I'm just catching up on this...such great news and then a a different feeling altogether to hear of the little one's fight. My wife and I wish our best to you and hope for the best.

There is a little song they sing here on birthdays for children. I posted the lyrics here. you can hear background musci to it at this link. http://www.niehs.nih.gov/kidspan/lyrics/mananitas.htm
