I do have Guy's email address, though I think it's the one available to all on his profile. I just emailed him and hopefully he'll answer. If what I have is a different one, I'll pass it on if Guy gives me the go-ahead. |

Although I work in Istanbul, I've always enjoyed reading Guy's posts on the various Latin American forums. He's smart, funny and helpful -- wish we had more people like him around. It's great to hear about his promotion but I do miss him. Things must be rather hectic for him right now, I suppose.
Congratulations, Guy, wherever you are! Don't be a stranger forever! |

I`m sorry, but it's disappointing and inexcusable (to me anyway) for him to have not made that same announcement (or was that not just another ad for his franchise company??) in the very forum where obviously he was getting mega business for the school in Mexico City owned by his wife, and where many people trusted him. Further, there appears to have been several clients left up the creek without a paddle...That is plain crap if it is true. Busy would be the furthest thing from a viable excuse when people are spending money to get certified and now have lost that money because he moved on suddenly. If he truly cared about people here he would have announced his departure HERE too, instead of saying he was going on vacation and disappearing in the night. |

Guy didn't mention it on this forum, but I did see him post the announcement in the teacher's forum..I think. |

Well, wherever he is, I wish him the best. I hope his future is as bright as his messages always were on this forum.
He doesn't seem the type to pull a fast one without a darn good reason, so if that is the case, I'm sure there's a lot more to the story.
But that is his own business and none of ours.
Best of luck Guy. |

The link someone posted here was in his profile on the training forum, a few days after his last post here, and visible only when you click on his name...it wasn't an announcement to the forum. My point was that he should have let his clients, those in the midst of taking his online course and who have sent him money, know that they are out of luck. It very much concerns them right now with both a time and monetary investment.
I received some private emails after posting, from a few that have been left hanging. I wish Guy luck too in his future endeavors, but urge him to take care of unfinished business even if just with a simple email to these people. I hope those people who have money invested will be receiving their certificates, don't you? There's enough lack of trust out there, especially where Mexico is concerned. Come on Guy, step up to the plate and show these people that you are the nice person they thought you were when they sent you their money. |

Another shonky canadian rip-off artist whose silver tongue has beguiled many, (sigh)
When will we learn, it's the canadians, not the gringos that we need to look out for.
Don't get upset Maple-leafers, many of you are very nice people. It's just that the bad apples are pretty high-profile. |

Mike, that is the VERY reason I want to see this made right. I am a Canadian living and working hard in Mexico (is there any other way, really?) and it is bloody embarrassing to watch these continuing scenarios unfold. In fact I am really choked this time. I am thinking of trading in my lovely maple leaf emblazoned passport for a Mexican one! |

Let's not bury the "guy" until we hear what Guy has to say. There may be a good explanation. |

Do we really need to start this again? This is really not a Canadian/Gringo/Mexican issue. Never has been, never will be. We are all foreigners living abroad...no need for any of us to play the race card. |

My husband posted earlier about taking the TEFL course and not getting response from Guy. We have been wondering since March, when he quit responding to emails, where he was. My husband called Mexico 3 times and this last time he spoke to someone with the company.
We think, and we hope that they will follow through on their promise to resolve this problem. This person did say he found the emails and lessons submitted on their server and apologize for the delay in responding. My husband is finishing up the online course and sending to them, we will update this forum as to the final results. Hopefully this will be the certificate as promised.
I just want to say that I do believe Guy should have let people on this forum (who were his friends- obvious from recent posts) that he was leaving. He also should have emailed my husband at some point to say that he was leaving and would no longer be his advisor for the TEFL course. I cannot believe that he was too busy or did not have computer access. At this point we are disappointed with Guy, but cannot say there was a deliberate attempt at any kind of fraud. We have our own business, so I can say that this is just not a good way to run a business and gives everyone in this biz a black eye.
We will update the forum on future developments. Thanks, Dana |

LOL Mike!!
As for the email thing, some time ago I wanted to ask Guy about something, and he sent me a PM saying I could email him. I used the link here on Dave's and there was some kind of mess up because the address he had here was wrong. When I PM'd him and told him, he sent me the correct address, and gave me a helpful reply.
I don't know what's happened to Guy, but I do hope he's ok. Maybe there's been some bizarre technical glitch, combined with something else going on in his life, and nobody is checking his emails for him. I often wonder what would happen to my Internet life if I should have an accident or something.. |

All this search for Guy convinces me that cyber relationships and friendships are just as important as the "real" ones. I spent a lot of time talking to Guy and consider him a friend. Yes, it would've been nice to shake his hand and raise a glass with him. We almost did. (It was still very strange how the whole thing got cancelled at the very last minute. Guy had a very strange reason for not coming, but I wont go into that. He was going to come to Montreal during his trip to Canada.)

You shall be deleted!
I'm just waiting for the day when I can download (or is it upload?) my consciousness onto the net and really become cyber. We can already make an animation of our physical dimensions; all we need is the virtual technology to meet inside the Internet. This is not too far off and the possibilities are endless: we're talking a virtual world where traveling is obsolete and your cyber image is the only one that counts. Tokyo is a click away. After our physical bodies perish, we will have the choice of deleting our cyber images or leaving them there for those who want to remember us. One step closer to immortality! Can't wait! |
