I too am against taking drugs and recommend meditation . I do it when the students get to me during class . I just tune them out and meditate for ten minutes . But in Taiwan I took Valium a lot and the students loved it because your voice slows down to a robotic pace . Everybody is happy .
The thing I hear the most from Chinese English teachers is that they hated their foreign teachers because they were always getting angry at them . Chill they are just young and can't understand you . Slow things down for them . Get the good students to help you explain things . Have difficult concepts translated into Chinese . Put yourself in their shoes . They are used to having English classes in Chinese . English study in most countries is about English . They never use the language .
I noticed in my schools a few breakdowns with the Chinese teachers lately . Mostly the young ones . It is the season . Who wants to be in school on a beautiful spring day ? |
