Don't take this post too seriously, it's bad for the nerves.

Abuse AND abandonment? Curiosity leads me to ask which came first but then I realise that it's possibly a chicken-or-egg situation.

They make for nice alliteration though Twisted Evil maybe you should write a poem and throw in abasement and aberration.

And which was the new word?

Hi Chasgul,

How has your day been going? So-so here, trying to idle away the last 47 minutes here until I can go home and read, eat, sleep and mope.

The new word is onanism. And as I'm not at home and feeling lazt how about telling me about this word "alliteration"?

The abuse came first but I don't recall any of it. I am assuming I suffered from it though because my adopted father said he saved us from an abusive drunk.

Our mother later abandoned us. Which brings me to a question I have for you. What is a good word for someone who suffers from insecurity stemming from neglect by their mother? Do you know what I mean?

This is what troubles me most. I feel that because my mother never loved me and then abandoned me that I have a hole in my heart, not unlike a hole you dig in wet sand, the more you dig the more the wet sand fills it in, actually it would be the opposite of that, wouldn't it?

Take me coming to this forum for example, I only want to communicate with people. Unfortunately, where I live and work superficiality seems to be the norm and try as I may I can not find tranquility, I used to mask this desperation with alcohol and drugs but I have given them up in the hope that I can face my demons and exorcise them. It is painful and I feel I am climbing up hill in shale, one step forward, two steps back.

To make matters worse I seem to be exhausting myself in my attempts to seek validation here. I try to touch people who are receptive to my efforts but as this medium is new to me I often become discouraged.

By the way, where is BG?

Warm regards,
s

Alliteration is rhyming, whence: ABuse, ABandonment.

BG = Bulgaria

Today was as humdrum as usual. Fixed my front gate, taught lessons, that kind of thing.

Ever thought that your mom loved you but couldn't cope? Don't assume that everyone can handle the choices they make in life, nor that they always make their choices for the worse reasons. That sounds trite but perhaps it's time you were a little less egocentric and started looking for the real cause of certain problems - are your expectations of others realistic? If you ask too much of people they will instinctively pull away as a defence mechanism.

And when you sit glowering and radiating negative vibes because no one said 'hi' the situation can only enter a vicious circle.

And if you are so tired then stop trying so hard. That may also change the situation.

Of course you could always do what your mom did....

To attain the state of mind that tranquility represents, you need to start to look at things objectively. Either that or study some poetry.

Hope this finds you in better form.

Alliteration is when words begin with the same sounds. It's a poetic device ...

So nice Chasgul,

Thanks for setting me straight and sifting through my self-serving sentiment. Sort of selfish to seek solace while sitting slumped stewing over silly stuff.

Part of my problem pertains to not partaking in a particular paradisical plant that has permeated my past.

Be better now to not bother broadcasting bad vibes and get back to bonding with brothers and building bridges that bring the best.

Bless you Bulgarian Brother,
s

To put Jonny straight - the sound repeated does not have to be at the beginning of the word.

The ochre Okri wrote and then did note the crickets' crackling and watched the motes in the sunbeams' slopes.

That kind of thing.

/start pedantry/ And self-serving should be hyphenated because it's a compound adjective /end pedant mode/

Had I but known it was a poem I could have.

But I did like the alliterative display. Then again I've always liked sybaritic sibillants.

Hi Chasgul,

That is amazing. Could you hear the ruffling of pages?
Feel as if I'm the one who needs English lessons. You could probably come up with an English word I don't know for everything I say.
No wonder there are 450,000 words.
Takes one to know one, eh?

Cheers,
s

I went to the kind of schools where people actually came out with phrases like: the cornucopic plethora of tautological terminology in the English language is a boon to the poet.

Go figure, not many of us really fit into the category 'normal'. Laughing

According to the dictionary, alliteration is "the repetition of the same sounds or of the same kinds of sounds at the beginning of words or in stressed syllables". Didn't know about the stressed syllables part. Interesting.

I went to the kind of school where people came up with phrases like: should we just get fully seshed and veg or bail and go get some wedge?

IIRC when only vowel sounds are used it's called something like assonance. Many forms of oral poetry rely on assonantal rhyme-schemes as opposed to what is usually referred to as full-rhymes.

Sweetsee - safe, mate. gorrit sorted. Laughing
