Moscow is admittedly very historical, fascinating and of course has some unique sights and sounds etc.BUT and it's a BIG BUT-to have what we would call a reasonable quality of life there requires earning more than reasonable money so for less than $2000 per month you will find that to be a struggle! As the postings correctly say, affordable accomodation is a major problem, unless you don't mind living in a Soviet era slum in a dreary suburb!! Also, bear in mind that your daily commute will probably be a nightmare on the metro and buses and you will arrive home at night, stressed, dirty and exhausted!
There are so many other things about life there which I have posted about before recently under other headings, so if you dare, try it for the experience and always be grateful because you know you can escape when you have had enough of the place-be prepared for that sooner, rather than later! The third world city where the majority live, far outsizes the first world of the lucky few in the centre and if anything, the gap is widening continually as all those petro-dollars keep flowing in!
(and that's without mentioning the pollution and bad ecology of many areas of the city!) |
