Ok guys.
Don't kill me, please!!!

But we have to reschedule the asado.

Thing is that I am involved in the organization of the IV Americas Summit in Mar del Plata in November and I was just informed that I'm being sent (deploy) to Mar del Plata next Monday until the summit is over (November 6th).

So next possible date it's November 13th., and since you're being so patient with me we'll do something worth of remembering, will do the asado at an Estancia in a near by country town.
More details to follow.

I'll be posting less in the upcoming weeks, but I'll try to keep my presence as long as I can. Hope everybody can wait until the 13th. and spread the voice!!

Regards to all, and once again sorry!

Gauchito

Ok,
Second day in Mar del Plata (MDQ), it's cold, but waking up to the view of the sea is...well...priceless.

Back to the asado
The idea is to spend the whole day at the estancia, the town's name is San Antonio de Areco.
At the estancia we'll be able to eat asado untill we're stuffed, salads, chorizo, empanadas, etc. Wine, beer, sodas.
They have a musical show, mostly regional music, they teach you how to dance and stuff.
For those of you who likes it you can do a little horse riding, they also have a swimming pool so if it's hot we can use it, and around 4pm they will offer us mate and pastelitos, another tipical sweet dessert.
The estancia has a museum, little one, but full of interesting things.
The town itself is lovely.

I'm waiting on the price so I can let you all know.

So please, re confirm your presence again so I can make sure of how many people we are.

Nat,
Thanks for the offer, I think I've got it cover, but will let you know if I need your help.

Cheers to all

Gauchito

Wow thats sounding pretty expensive now Gauchito. what are we looking at for that $80-$100??? I thought I might be able to scrape together the $30-40 for the last idea but I would definately rule this one out, lovely tho it sounds. Gotta think of those summer months.
Sorry!!!

I've been follwing this asado thread, sounds great, can we be counted in ? Do you have to be a local to attend? I have a friend from Madrid flying over on Nov 10, that's 1 + 1 if the Nov date is on. I'll ask him to bring some good Riojas, then you guys can all start comparing Spanish wine vs Argentinian wine! Having been living and loving Madrid for more than a year, I must say that BsAs is great as well. I just love it when my Spanish and Argentinian friends argue on everything being better in thier respective "paises" I have my own thoughts. Wink

Thanks for organizing this asado, it will be my first Argentinian asado, see you soon. hasta luego!

Hello everybody!!!
Sorry for my silence but I am really busy here at MDQ.

Well let's keep on moving with the asado.

First.
This is a one day deal, we take off at 10:30 and be back at around 18:30.
I was thinking on prepearing the asado myself but, since we have around 30 attendees the grill I'll need and the quantity of meat requires, it will take the cost of this event higher than expected.
So I thought of doing the gathering at an Estancia in a town called San Antonio de Areco, you'll be able to taste lots of local goodies and I'll get to be more relaxed being able to get to know all of you.
So far the cost per person is pesos 48. This price includes food and beverages. The only thing missing is transportation, but I figure I'll be able to get that at no expense to you guys.
If you want to know more about this Estancia you can go to http://www.lacinacina.com.ar

I will re do the attendees list and will post it later today.
If anybody have another suggestion for the venue, please let me know, I don't want to look like a dictator here.

Well cheers to all and hope you're all doing great!

Hi Cauchito
That sounds like a doable cost. I was frightened that it was going a bit out of control cost wise but that sounds reasonable to me. I'll still have to consider it. Works a bit thin on the ground these days.
Thanks for clearing up that issue

I'm still in, only myself though.

I've been to San Antonio de Areco and it's a quaint town. Also, it's the first place I've seen that has bug screens, so bring your bug spray.

From what I can tell from my bad Spanish, the estancia site says there is a charge for visiting their ranch?? Is that included in your estimate of this trip?
