I've been told that the starting salary for a doctor at the local IMSS hospital is a measly 4500 pesos per month. No wonder there are so many private practices! |

Perhaps something EFL teachers could consider for supplemental income . . . as an under-the-table option, so to speak.

Lurid comments here on Dave's? No puede ser.
Researching and writing an article . . . yes, that sounds innocent enough, at least the writing part of it.
I didn't realize that turning tricks fell into the non-tourism employment category. It must be different in Acapulco than it is here in Merida. |

Unfortunately, I didn't find it so funny to see that a young woman who had worked so hard towards getting the best education available to her should have to turn to prostitution to make ends meet. She had no desire to be doing what she does, but the region does not offer a lot of choices. She is hardly an isolated case.
Guerrero is a forgotten state here in Mexico. The capital is Chilpancinqo though state government is pretty much run from Acapulco. Local Guerrenses have very little by way of ownership of their own resources. |

I'm covered by national insurance through my school. Does anyone know whether that includes dental work? If not, how much does a regular dental checkup, including xrays, cost?
I may have to have some major work done, due to an infection, and I'd like to know before I go how much it's going to cost me. Right now I'm trying the antibiotic method, but it's not working! |

Curious you guys -- if you get private health insurance through your employer and plan to retire in Mex., what do you plan to do for health insurance at that time?
Thx .... Mep |
