Thanks Ms Petula for your advice,

Really I think it best to be straight down the line too.
Why pretend to be some character you are not.

For ex: I read over on the Thailand board about these dudes getting degree and whatever zapped up on the computer. Well I could but that is not how I see things.

The way I see, there are buckets of Chinese business that wanna rip you off
(Thats is why Im not looking at those private schools)
But its my guess theres a fair number of teachers in China who are blowing their own whistle a bit too loudly too.
May be you can get away with some B/S; maybe for a while; maybe for ever.
I dunno - but thats not my plan.

Just a 2 year college diploma
With hair, no gotta comb over
My cards on the table
I am willing and able

These are the ones I have sent e-mail or faxes too; more on my disc (not here).

 Guangdong Commercial University
 Guangdong University of Technology
 Guangdong Institute of Commerce
 Guangdong Business College
 South China University of Technology
 South China Normal University
 Shenzhen University
 Polytechnic Shenzhen
 Guangzhou University
Sun Yat-Sen University of Medical Sciences
 Guangzhou Normal University
 Guangdong University of Foreign Studies
 South China Agricultural University
 Guangdong Medical College
 Guangzhou Education College
 Guangdong Petrochemical Academy
 The First Military Medical University

Do a search and you will find all their details

Now I have had an answer from:
Guangdong Commercial University
Guangdong University of Technology

and also one other (not on this list) its got a few colleges or campuses and they both sent info -2

Plus one of these not sure which one:
Guangdong University of Foreign Studies or
South China Agricultural University

Well again, its still early days for me still saving the cash and no body has said yes yes Sad yet Crying or Very sad
But they all want more info and I have plenty of time to get organised. Smile

See for me one of these places said they really need some new teachers but they would give not me very much even if they do gimme a job
Guangdong Commercial University
Guangdong University of Technology

But with your qualifications, you might be the offered more. And it gotta be easier for you will all that ABC you got after your name

Keep looking
Keep trying
Soon yll be flying Smile

Thanks for all the info. dudes

So far, so good Smile

Just one question mate. Why are they contacting your refereeeees and not you?
If you're not confident/competant enough to handle this stuff yourself you're going to get screwed in China. You're on your own here.

PRC is changing its speed, Universities are getting more suspicious because of bad experiences.
Smooth talkers have to work their acts harder...
In addition, HS are lowering their salaries...

They too checked my MA two years ago, but not my references

Hello Petula

These are the only ones that may fit:

Guangdong Commercial University
Guangdong University of Technology
Guangdong Institute of Commerce
Guangdong Business College
Guangdong Petrochemical Academy

Hey, this is interesting too:

Just like PC-pocket says

A few of these places have got back to me again and they want proper copies of my study and k-wallies.

Like PC-pocket says, they seem a bit suss about some of the teachers in China and whose coming next - and wots their game!

One of them wrote (Guangdong Commercial uni or Guangdong uni of Technology I think) this odd note sort saying sorry but they need to ask cause they have some teachers who might have been blowing bubbles their way. Confused Shocked

I am glad I am on the straight and narrow.

Well Universities in the PRC can't really expect much when they pay so low salaries. What, do they think they are going to get the best and brighest with salaries for public universities averaging between 2500 to 4000RMB.

Increase the salary then they can increase their demands.

No understatement here, and I am with you.
Althought not "all" Us. are underpaying their qualified teachers...

Yeh well you got NO thing to lose

I know some of these places are looking for teachers but might be after their summer

I was talking to my teachers at college and we were reading some of the e-mails and fax from China.
They said these Chinese characters might have been burned by some of their teachers who have been over-sudsing the machine. Wink

So they might be looking for the straight arrow types (that's me Razz ) and give some of their shonkies the bullet.

Sure I've read a lot on these boards about those dudes over their giving teachers complete b/s - but I think some teachers might be onto that scam too - 3 buckets full.

You are in the box seat

Ok heres the latest. These 2 places are really interested in me.
I was straight about what I have done and what my k-wallies are.
Plus my sparkling references from college.

Seems they have been burnt by foreign teachers who might have been a bit high on the b/s factor and what their k-wallies really are Confused
they are not too happy about that.
Seems from reading this board, there's a lot of lies and cheating on both sides of this teaching English caper in China
but my honesty impressed them.

Meanwhile I am gonna do some more courses in English writing and presentation at college and the lecturers are seeing if they can get some way for me to observe some ESL classes too at TAFE maybe.

Look I am not kidding myself these places are not Sydney uni or nothing like that but they are gonna pay me (not much) and its somewhere to start, right? Cool

Professor Wink Ytange: We want you!
Guangdong Commercial College
Guangdong University of Technology

This place: Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, would give me a job as a teaching assistant but the deal was more or less just a volunteer Crying or Very sad

Still saving my cash for the airfare but so far so good Smile
