Wow it looks like they might actually win. Hopefully this goes a long way to solving their inferiority complex or at least the one they should have for being so terrible at basically every other sport.

Rolling Eyes Pretty ignorant thing to say. Let me guess, you're from Toronto, right? I wish Canada was as competitive, outside hockey, as Japan is. Marathon running, swimming judo, baseball, soccer....MMA. Rolling Eyes Basically every country has their strengths in certain sports.

On the baseball game, it had everything...good plays, bonehead plays and wasn't decided until the end. Japan was full value for the win. They should be thanking Mexico. It was also nice to see that poor officiating wasn't an issue in this one.

there was a little bit of poor officiating, but it wasn't a huge issue especially since japan won by a decent margin.

the rbi where they said that the runner (i don't remember who, satozaki maybe?) got his hand in before being blocked off was a questionable call... don't get me wrong i was rooting for japan... i just thought that looked a little iffy

I think it was where Kawasaki was coming to the plate. However, from the reverse angle, it showed that he had his hand in there.

The bang-bang play at first base, when they slowed it down, was another mistake by the same umpire in the USA-Japan game. I can't believe that they had that guy on the field for the final game.

I was also impressed with the Cubans and how they took defeat. Total class.

what was with that umpire at home base yelling at the japanese dug out late in the 9th?

he was mad that they had their feet on the step??

like one of the announcers said "is it really that big of a deal?"

Since when is Japan a soccer power?? Not the last time I checked. They have trouble beating backwater mid-east countries. For a country that has 130 million people I would place them among the biggest underachievers in the world. How many medals did they win in this Winter Olympics?

*edit* and by the way good guess about my location-not quite so impressive when it says it right there in my Profile.

1. Japan won the Asian berth to the world cup. Canada can't even beat Trinidad and Tobago or come close to qualifying. Japan has been to the last two world cups. Canada has only been to the cup once.
2. Japan is ranked 18th in the world in soccer/football. Canada is ranked 85th.
3. Japan won one cold medal in this year's winter Olympics. Canada did very well.
4. In 2004, Japan was 5th in the 2004 Olympics with 37 medals (16 gold). In 2004, Canada was 21st with 12 medals (3 gold)
5. Japan has many soccer players playing around the globe in England, France, Italy, Holland etc. How many Canadian players are there?

Again, Basically every country has their strengths in certain sports. Rolling Eyes If you wish to continue being ignorant.... Rolling Eyes

Unfortunately Ill side a slight bit with Japan having way too much money and time invested in their sporting world to not be pulling out higher results.

Glad to finally see them win a baseball tourny though.

They take the sport so serious that I am nearly confused.
