20 July 1944 - we will soon be seeing the sixtieth anniversary of the plot by Stauffenberg and others to blow up Hitler at Wolfschanze. Is anything planned as a commemoration on the site ? It may be viewed differently now but for many years the party line in Poland was the 20th July plot was simply an attempt by reactionaries and aristocrats to prevent a revolution.
I have read that it is being marked in Berlin - where of course some of the action that day played out at the Bendlerstrasse. |
