I'm a Cancer.
I have yet to teach my first class, but hopefully the water sign theory holds true and I'm an effective teacher |

You'll only find out the age of people who use this website, and then only those who respond. Are they typical of ESL teachers?
46. Libran. Left handed ( I suspect a higher than average number of left-handers pursue this career). |

I turned 55 on July 19th. Cancer with a lot of Leo in my chart, or so I am told. But, actually I am in Korea, so that makes me 56. Don't ask, I don't really understand it myself. I guess I will be happy to be a year and a day younger when I return to the West. |

The logic or illogic behind it is that you turn one on the day you are born. Then on Jan. 1st, everybody turns a year older. A group birthday for the whole country, kind of like a Moonie wedding. So on your actual birthday, you don't become older because you already did on New Years Day.
Clear as mud? |

Argh! I was afraid of that. Now I am 57. Is the collective birthday on Chinese New Years or western New Years?
The good news is that when you turn 60 here, all the Confucian rules are suspended and you can be as frank and rude as you like. Its a life cycle thing- sort of re-born at 60. (Not to be confused with born again!) There is a huge party for you and everyone is supposed to bring an envelope stuffed with money. So if I hold out here for three more years, I will get a huge boost to my savings. |

Dear lajzar,
" Uhm, Im Aquarius. The water bearer. Id be really surprised to learn thats not a water sign. "
I'm an Aquarius, too ( Feb. 14th ) and I WAS surprised to discover it's not a water sign. The three nomadder mentioned - Pisces, Cancer and Scorpio - are the water signs, while Aquarius, Libra and Gemini are designated as " Air Signs ". But hey - are we looking for LOGIC with astrology?
Regards,
Airhead John |

Have we scared all the 20-22 year-olds away from responding to this thread? Or are they just not the main users of this site?
I started doing in this field when I was 22. Now, 6 years and an M.A. degree later (that makes me 28 ), I'm still doing it.
And I'm a capricorn. Does that make me suitable for this field? |
