As I've mentioned before, when you take all the currency equations out of it, they are paying around the same price for their degrees. And this would unfortunately reward the teachers without degrees as well, of whom there are no doubt many.

Which you undertook voluntarily. You get an airfare reimbursement, don't forget. The other things... sending packages, taxis, etc. are really not the school's responsibility, to be fair. Why should the school pay you more because you wanted to, for example, send a box of books ahead of you?

6. Increased cost of retirement (or other post-China living) expenses.

I don't understand. Why should THEY pay this? You decided to come to China and you want them to compensate you for things you knew full well would happen when you returned home? I don't think so!

9. Other cost of living expenses (stores that charge Westerners more).

Ha ha! Again, that is entirely unreasonable. For one thing, being ripped off is not a given. Secondly, it happens to other Chinese, not just us. Third, if you think you are being ripped off, DO SOMETHING about it. Walk away, haggle, go with a friend. Don't just cough up and expect the school to compensate you.

I'm not sure what other costs you're referring to. Paying for your fiancee's visa? Going clubbing? Shopping at Metro?

I don't mean to sound harsh. The points I didn't highlight were good ones. I just found these to be verging on silly.
