Update:
It has happened again. Another college in Changchun told me that they want to hire me, only to change their mind after being told that they have to get the letter of release by directly asking my school for it. What the hell? Is the Bai Da Wei school part of the mafia or something? Why are the Universities in Changchun scared to ask for a release letter? Looks like I'm going to have to leave Changchun if I want to work in a University. |

David is plugged into some women's group who help him start the school..yes they have juice..also he is foreign so taking up in his office or refusing to leave will have little effect...you may try another mill such as Perfect English with a foreign workers book and then switch back to a FE cert....David does hold a grudge...and he is not likely to get over it....

| I am 99.99% positive that the OP's current employer is holding his FEC. Without a FEC I doubt anyone can get a RPF |
many married folk have one year L visas and get RPs, not sure if that is what David's school does..but it is possible...even foreign students have the RPs..taking classes at the Normal University..that is why you sometimes see those Russian girls who are students, dancers and teachers.... |

They all have RPs but they are different. The RP gives the holder the right to live in China (usually for more than 6 months), not necessarily to work. It just happens that the Z,F,X RPs look almost identical. If you examin the actual visa under the heading purpose of residence it will usually tell you this - ' 职业' employment or '学习 study. |

| I don't know the details but I have a friend married to a Chinese national. She went to the psb and got him a visa that gave him working priveleges. I think it was a 'D' visa. It was not tied to a specific employer. |

Jilin Province is a hard-line Province.
First, no school can convert an "L" visa to "Z" visa. |
I can confirm this being true, but I would to rephrase what Malsol says. According to my school's FAO assistant, the probability of success is only 5% when a school tries to apply for a RPF to be issued to a foreigner with a L visa. |
