and Cider! and The Wedding Present!. Yes there's lots of stuff I love about the UK. The Queen isn't one of them. |

| We fought against King George chiefly to ensure that our tabloids would always have fresh subjects. Where as we no longer have any obligation to report on Scott Bayo's ongoings, you chaps have to be bombarded with all minutae regarding Prince Harry until he too is killed in a C.I.A. assassination. Our forefathers were visionaries, indeed. |

| I'm always at a bit of a loss when people say they really don't like the royal family .Esp when they can't give a well considered reason for that dislike ,even hate sometimes . I just wondered if you were prepared to do just that ? |

I don't agree that some people should be treated better than others simply because of birth. I kind of agree with Marx on that one.
I also dont appreciate being somebodys subject, I know that the Queen is powerless, and simple a symbol, but I dont like what it symbolises. Oppression of the working classes by the ruling classes, imperialism and nationalism.
But why does it bother you so much when people dont like the Royal Family? |

the current bunch of royals are nothing more than a load of prusso-greek arrivistes. We on this Forum of Scots ancestry have more right to be monarchs of Alba, Hibernia, LLoegr,Cymru and Kernow than those tossers.
and here we are, stuck as TEFlers.
You're surprised we're jealous? |

| Seeing as I started this I should throw in my two liras worth . I agree with B.A. to a point . The idea of having an "elite" upperclass is distasteful to the normal everyday guy like me and many others esp when so few privliged people hold sway over the us, "the great unwashed" masses . Where I do agree with others is that as a symbol of our history and heirtage as well as culture our Queen has been a pretty good ambassador so far despite the foul ups of some less intelligent members of the "firm" .I think on balance it would be a great loss to the prestige and global goodwill directed towards the U.K if the monarchy was ever abolished . |

As an Australian I have Queens arms on my passport, she is the Queen of Austalia and its offical head of state.
Yet when I go to thje U.K I have to line up in the "others" line. While at the same time Greeks, Gremans and rest of E.U trash sale by.
So forgive me if I don't respect the old cow.
One day soon all the old farts here in OZ will drop dead and we will become the republic we should have become a long time ago.. |
