Well ... as it turns out, I had some leverage and applied that leverage in a rather subtle way. The results were that she paid me in full, dropped any mention of the situation, and then praised me for being a good teacher. But that was good advice about abandoning the pay. I would have done that had she not unexpectedly given in, despite the fact that a week`s pay could have housed me for a month in one of the housing options I was looking into ... or kept my chocolate habit going strong for maybe two or three months.
At this point I`m going to breathe a sigh of relief - with much gratitude to this board - and consider this Case Closed.
