CfBT is a recruiter for the MoHE... same as Hawthorn and Majali and whatever others there are.

Happy Ramadan ending, to all.

With all of your free time on campus surfing the Internet, you certainly could have found the term for this.

Of the three colleges that CfBT recruits for, I'd recommend the one in Nizwa. That's where I am, and I don't think I'd be as happy in the other two locations because they're too far from Muscat. CfBT does have an office and classes in Muscat, but there isn't a college there--teachers there work directly with CfBT, teaching their classes (which seem to be sort of like private language school classes).

And yes, CfBT is a recruiter like the others, but from the negative comments that have been posted about the others, I'm not sure just how "like the others" they are. I'm happy with them.

Hi Ghost,

The salary you were quoted for a job with Majali doesn't include various allowances which would boost your total salary up to the vicinity of 1000 Rials. I taught at a location in Oman with Majali and quite enjoyed it- the living there anyway. With regard to the contract, you wouldn't the full 2 months paid vacation for the first year of your contract- it's five days a month worked. wrt being on campus I'll send you a PM. The students were a handful esp. the second years but if you go in there and really lay down the law (and back it up with action) you'll be fine. Costs in Oman or rather non-Muscat Oman are very low esp. compared to Korea. You'd have to rent a car if you wanted to get the most out of your OMan experience although quite a few co-workers of mine didn't bother and saved a huge chunk of their salaries (but couldn't have enjoyed living there IMHO).
