Well I can finally put a cap on this thread.
I returned home a couple of days ago, flying direct from GDL. I decided to just take my chances and arrive at the airport very early just in case. The outcome? No problema. I was about 3 months past the 180 day mark. The nice girl asked for the paper I recieved when I arrived. I said I had lost it a long time ago. She had me fill out some info and take it to immigration right there in the airport. They just stamped it and sent me on. No fine, and I didn't have to wait in line. Nobody even looked at my passport.
I don't know what will happen when I come back, but leaving was no problem. |

| I'm glad everything worked out for you, including not having to pay the usual fine! You shouldn't have any problems when you come back because you'll have a brand-new FM-T good for another 180 days. |

My housemate just tried to renew her student visa for an extra twenty days and it required three trips to immigration. On the first visit they said their computers weren't working but that if she came back it would just take one trip, but when she returned they told her she had to come back a week later. It sounds like letting it expire would have been a lot easier! |

| Just out of curiosity, do most officials accept the "I lost it" line easily, or do they know that tourists often lose things conveniently when they expire? I've heard both and those on the board working without an FM3 might be interested in your answers. |
