They were quite arrogant in their approach and would not negotiate. They are still advertising. If you are already in the curriculum part of the program they are keeping present benefits. If you are in the PA part of the program, now called IPC if you are a PA you have to take a drop in wages, a quite substantial drop. If you are a curriculum person now and take on an IPC position your wages stay the same. New people to the program are being offered lower wages all round.
As for negotiation I doubt it, for present employee they would rather let them go than negotiate. And these people are a known quality with proven skills.

It's a very strange program.

Article from the National explaining how well the MAG programme is working?

http://www.thenational.ae/article/20090409/OPINION/550696328&SearchID=73351365890004

How can you measure the success of the the programme on a 4% increase in results compared to non MAG schools.

4% is a great result but the MOE is still restructuring MAG! It does't make sense but then again it is ME. When do things have to make sense.

Can't seem to work out what MoE or ADEC want right now, seems like total chaos!

While all this is going on, students are finding it hard with their grades falling. (see article from the National).

carlen, me too and especially if the students entering the tertiary sector have grades worse than they used to be or with no improvement at all. I think it's time all principals were held accountable for their choices and made to attend some sort of professional development sessions including IELTS classes to improve their own English. How can they be suitable role models if they can't use the language themselves?

Another article in the National paper about MAG schools - not a good idea!

http://thenational.ae/article/20090421/NATIONAL/704209816/1019

Anyone know what ADECs 10-year Strategic Plan 2009-2018 is?

It's heartening to see the truth being told on this forum at last ! Some of us have been trying to say these things about other places than MAG or Ministry schools for years, decades, even, but until now, you just wouldn't be listened to--- at least in the places I've been. The kind of bullying some of the posters here describe was endemic in most of the so-called 'educational' institutions I've encountered -- and I'd guess still is. It was just taken for granted that you accepted anything a 'supervisor' dished out, no matter how idiotic, inept or inadequate s/he was. Most of one's 'colleagues' survived by getting into cliques and savaging anyone who didn't go along with their little games. Is it possble that a few professional types have somehow strayed into the ME Tefling scene, who aren't as easily intimidated or as sycophantic as people used to be? Honestly, everything you describe brings back memories--- nightmares, actually--- from twenty years ago -- in institutions of 'higher' education!

Well, I guess, one of the aims of the Strategic Plan 2009-2018 of ADEC is to teach the Emiratis teachers on how to teach maths and science in Arabic not English!
Well, I told the Emiratis that you are wasting your time and money, but they did not listen to me! Laughing
