Yes, all mexican laws are intented to respect the Mexican constitution, in which one of its principles is that the Mexican state must ensure a separation between Church and state's affairs as well as deliver agnostic public education. |

 One could argue that the fact that religious groups are excluded from any kind of political activity, not allowed to participate in public education, conduct services outside churches, or wear clerical dress in public, has contributed to Mexico's deplorable situation for workers: huge hurdles to overcome for independent unions, difficulties for collective bargaining and/or striking....and the world shudders at the surreal levels of violence in Mexico.
Falsely identifying a threat (in this case, the Catholic church and religious persons generally) has enabled the Mexican ruling class and the caudillo system/political patronage (puppy dogs of the anglo-american establishment?) to keep attention away from themselves as they stole from the people.
Who are the progressives? The ones promoting "gay unions", abortion, and euthanasia, even as they repress the people? OR: the ones promoting social and economic justice for all workers?
As long as one is afraid of particular teachings, (even as one claims to be open and progressive ) , they will never see society develop fully.
This is the tragi-comedy of Mexico. |
