There are Saudi doctors?
I thought all doctors in Saudi Arabia were Syrian. |

| Best trauma surgery in the world?? Maybe that's from vast experience with all the car wrecks? If Saudi were the place to go for medical care, I would suspect Sheikh Zayed would have gone there for his kidney transplants. He went to the Cleveland Clinic. In fact, big shots and rich people around the world generally head for the U.S. for major medical care...not to belittle India, but people go to the latter to save money on operations. But Saudi Arabia?? |

Come, come, now! I, of course, am talking about car wrecks, spectacular car wrecks, which are plentiful in Riyadh. The late great Sheikh Zayed went to the Cleveland Clinic, because it is a world-class institution. And, in all due respect, I can't remember when kidney transplants were ever refered to as "traumatic"! But, if you want a quick down and dirty experience in trying to keep traumatically damaged humans alive...I stand by my claim, Riyadh is the place to be! (The artist formerly known as) GN2, I can't remember if you are a Saudi vet, but it became abundantly clear to me, almost, from Day 1, when a speeding hunk of metal takes on a date palm, the palm tree ALWAYS wins.
P.s.- As far as big shots and the well-heeled traveling to the states, I think anyone with the age of knowledge and the memory of the Shah will remember the repercussions that can happen when the U.S. lets those, who can pay, into the U.S. for medical treatment.
IMHO

Well, as far as my heart beats 99 times/minute, I do not think I need to go to Harley Street!
BTW, Uncle Scot, what was/is your heart beats after your open-heart surgery? |

Yes, NCTBA, I am a Saudi vet from '92 to '96. I saw some bizarre accidents...but nine years in the UAE after that wasn't much better. Everybody thinks driving is a video game. Not sure what you mean by " what happens when they let high-paying big shots into the US for medical treatment." If you meant they lose power while they're out of their country, they probably deserve it.
I used to go to a private hospital in Jeddah...Ghosen something? I thought it had the initials GN or GH? They really overtreated. I had a slight fever before a flight to Europe one time...very slight fever...and they gave me a shot that, once I was flying, brought my body temp down so far that I passed out and threw up on myself, and had the same psychosomatic symptoms for the next three or four flights for the next year or so. |

Ouch! Yeah, medical practices can vary, tho, as illustrated by me speaking of the police giving injections at Al Hada. The hospital is named Phaeron Ghassan or something close to that spelling. He's the same guy who owns the Arabian Homes compound. My favorite Jeddah hospital was Saudi German.
You're right on the driving ethics in both countries, yet, I've never seen a driver in the far right lane do a left-hand turn like was common in Riyadh. The most common driving trait that I've observed is both nationals' insistance of driving at, literally, break-neck speed in the left-hand lane!

It is called Dr Ghassan Pharaon Hospital, and it is indeed a Big Pharaoh of Jeddah!

Well, I once tried the Saudi-German hospital, but it was a bullplop! |

The hospital's initials are GNP, which stands for Ghassan Najeeb Pharaon.

Dude, that's very very bad. Are you obese and/or very unfit? You do know that the lower your heart rate, the fitter you are?
99 is way above average for adult males. The average is about 80. People who exercise 2-3 times a week have about 70, and marathon runners about 40.
I think you DO need to go see someone about it. Or contact me for personal training lessons (cardio, weight training, nutrition, etc). My rate is SR. 200/hr. |

And I offer counselling on these issues. Because of my great wisdom and enormous experience my fee is 500 SR per hour - payable in advance.
This character who thinks he is a number and disguises himself as a cat is clearly very troubled and in need of my services. |

Yes! GNP! That's the one! I knew it waas something close to Ghosen or whatever. I can't believe how dumb that is, to give me a shot to lower my body temperature just because I had a little fever. I'm not a doctor but even I know that a fever is one of the body's natural defenses. I should have known better then. But in 1992 Saudi Arabia was even LESS of an information society than it is today.
It's not like my temp was 105 F. It was only about 100. The classic normal is 98.6 F, for those of you on metric. |
