Dear Canuck2112,
". . . going to the dump to shoot seagulls."
Ah - there's the problem. You need to come up with a more romantic sort of icebreaker, one with more ambiance, one more likely to stimulate those first stirrings of affection that can blossom into an amorous relationship. So, take that little lady to the closest abandoned building and go rat-hunting with a pair of Charter Pathfinder 22 long rifles with Hudson
one power scopes. Now that'll put your love life in high gear.
Regards,
John |

Dear Gordon,
I assume the lovely lady was IN the dumpster when you first met.

Nothing wrong with being single still. I know I want to travel and see so many places and unless I found the same adventurous soul, I may be *GASP* a housewife! Couldn't handle it!
I am not ready for the 2 car garage, mortgage, kids and in-laws! |

My wife is a housewife and we travel all over and have a real adventure with kids. Mind you, travel with the in-laws are not so great. |

In my family, my father refers to my mother's side as the "out laws"
And, yes I could travel as a housewife, but god forbid someone would want me to be one! (No offense Gordon....just not my cup of tea) |

The best scenario is the kinda guy who also knows when to stay out of the road! He also has to be independent, be able to cook, clean up after himself, not download all of the days hassles on me without supplying equal time listening to all of my hassles, nice smooth skin, smell good, sense of humour, intelligent and very good at what he does! I'm sure there are many of these gorgeous guys wandering around out there just waiting for me |

I think women would have a lot more success finding partners if they did the following:
1. Put their wish list in ORDER
2. Reduced the size of the wish list to a bare minimum
3. Practise meeting real people and value men realistically, instead of contrasting them against a) Perfection, b) Movie Stars, or c) some romantic version of their ex-boyfriend.

| Best advice for finding a mate I've heard: "find someone whose faults you can live with". Nobody's perfect. |

| Iain - you're spoiling all the fun! Wish lists don't have to be rational. We've lived with and loved (and even valued realistically) the fellas out in the real world. That's why the population keeps on rising! But ............ there is always hope! |

Do you think women have higher expectations of men than vice versa? I never thought so. Maybe we should all take movies less seriously. |

I only take the Lord of the Rings trilogy seriously. Everything else is just fantasy
I had guessed that Nomadder meant that women are not the psychotic, neurotic relationship junkies that the moives depict. Ally MacBeal (yeah, it's TV I know) and Bridgett Jones's Diary come to mind as examples of that.
I think that expectations and gender don't have much in common. There are those that chase anything with removable garments, those who are holding out for perfection, and a great many variants in between these two. I know many examples of such people from both genders. |
