Posted this on another thread, worth reposting here as an update...

"Privates have usually been plentiful due to less competition from native speakers. This year though I dunno if it's the aftermath of the crisis or not but me and others have noticed a bit of a dropping off. 2008-2010 demand was crazy and I worked 40 clock hours many weeks just to keep up. This year I'm down to a more standard 25-28 hour week. One theory is that there was a spike in demand due to the crisis with many wanting to move abroad. Now anyone who wanted to move abroad and needed English for that has already done so and thus demand has returned to normal levels. "

I'm sorry I missed this at the time and only caught up with it yesterday. Mezaparks is the upmarket place. A student of mine is involved in the real estate market up there and according to him the lowest rent is around 190 lats per month for a 35 sq metre apartment.

Still less than I pay in Moscow and my Moscow flat is cheap-15k rub/mo.
