| I did a DELTA at IH Wroclaw several years ago- it was a huge amount of work but really worth it. The main benefit of doing it there was the excellent tutors they had contracted to deliver the course. |

I'm in the "it's not lucrative in the long run" side of the argument.

I should pay a DELTA certified teacher an extra 5-10zl an hour for that? sorry, just with today's economy and the stinginess of language schools in general, that's what I would expect to hear from a DOS, especially if there is a pile of resumes on his/her desk of qualified native speakers with a few years experience under their belts.
i'm sure it makes you a better teacher. hell, i had to basically learn all my methods through trial and error, scraping my knee a few times, failures in class, embarrassing moments......what the avg. expat out here does. I would have loved to get more training, but in the time it takes to acquire a DELTA, i could set up business contacts, advertise/sell myself, establish various networks and make as much if not more than the "DELTA guy". (and save a bundle of money I would have spent on tuition)
I guess I'm just repeating an old argument. Anyway, as they say Shake, education is never a waste. Good luck! |

For the others who say the DELTA is only for DOS's, in your CELTA did you learn about weak forms, which we use all the time?
I may be missing something, but in the CELTA., were you able to teach the difference between the present perfect and past simple?

Covered all this on the Trinity CertTESOL course. Guess the DELTA goes into more depth. |

| I think I was once told that the difference was that on the CELTA you learn what to do and on the DELTA you learn why you're doing it. |

| The celta is pre service whereas the delta is in service. |
